She kept him alive at an orphanage by gathering small wads of dough one breadcrumb at a time. They were rescued by a Christian man passing by who recognized the sign of the fish. HISTORIAL CONTEXT
Armenia, 1915, 100 years ago… 20 years before Hitler. The entire population of Armenian Christians was cleansed from the Ottoman Empire. Those who survived were forced to convert to Islam.
ABOUT
Screenwriter Barbara Erysian grew up hearing the story from her Grandmother about surviving the Armenian Genocide. In 2014, Barbara reflected on her Grandma Alice’s words, “Tell your children. Tell your children’s children. Never forget.” Wanting to tell the widest audience possible, she took it upon herself to write a screenplay for a feature film.
Manuel ‘Max’ Freedman has been working on the project since 2015. Both Erysian and Freedman are trying to shed a ray of light into these dark events. Their goal is to bring awareness and recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
